Author Guidelines

You may submit original unpublished fiction, non-fiction, poetry, art & photography.

Reasons to submit:
• Free copy for U.S. submitters
• Legitimate ISBN publication + ISSN requested
• Free downloadable e-book for international authors
• Verifiable publication

Include in your submission:
• Submission title
• Desired pen name
• Submission file

You may only submit four (4) pieces altogether, but you may mix and match. Pieces must be the author's own original work and unpublished. Simultaneous submissions are okay, as long as the author/artist withdraws upon acceptance from another publication before being accepted to the Scarlet Review.

Optional Prompt:
Theme: Resilience

This year's theme is representative of the horse as it transitions us into a period of endurance through resilience. The steeds internal heavenly fire transports us into a period of assencion as it sits in the highest point in the sky, sending the warmest rays of the sun. Whether it be spirtual, political or personal, show us what resilience through the fire means to you.

Fiction

Submit:
• Up to TWO submissions MAX.
• No more than 2,500 words per submission.
• Must be a Doc (.docx) file.
• Each story should be submitted individually.

Non-Fiction

Submit:
• Up to TWO submissions MAX.
• No more than 2,500 words per author.
• Must be a Doc (.docx) file.
• Each piece should be submitted individually.

Poetry

Submit:
• Up to THREE poems MAX.
• Each poem should be no longer than two pages.
• You must submit a Doc (.docx) and PDF (.pdf) version for each poem.
• Each poem should be submitted individually.

Drama

Submit:
• Up to TWO submissions MAX.
• Up to 5,000 words altogether.
• Files must be a Doc (.docx) file.
• Each play should be submitted individually.

Art & Photography

Submit:
• Up to FOUR Pieces MAX
• .png (preferred) or .jpeg
• Each image should be submitted individually.
