Leah Jones, California State University Channel Islands
Leah Jones is a senior undergraduate at California State University Channel Islands, pursuing a degree in Psychology with a minor in Creative Writing. Her combined passions for literature and human behavior made psychological research the perfect avenue to explore past findings, while conducting new studies of her own. In Fall 2025, Leah is planning to begin earning her Master’s degree in Psychological Science, where she will continue to test human limitations regarding challenging scenarios. This publication will be the first of many to showcase her endlessly curious and flexible attitude towards people.
Josie Midkiff, California State University Channel Islands
Josie Midkiff is an undergraduate student at California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI), pursuing a degree in Psychology. With a passion in understanding human behavior, criminal behavior and mental processes, Josie focuses on research and statistical data analysis with real world implications to intriguing psychological questions and theories. Currently, she is conducting a research study pertaining to the psychological processes of Worldview and Math self-concept, Worldview of locus of responsibility and self-challenge in independent research directed by Susan Beers, PhD. Josie’s aspirations include to further her research in the field of forensic psychology, and contribute through program evaluations and creating impactful solutions and resources for juvenile offenders and veteran offenders within the legal system.
Saima Valdivia, California State University Channel Islands
Saima Valdivia is an undergraduate student at California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI), pursuing a degree in Psychology. With a passion for research and mental well-being, Saima is currently researching how people react to challenges to their belief system or worldview while working part-time as a behavior technician. Saima plans to further their research in the field of psychology, with the goal of blending research and patient treatment to support underserved populations. Future aspirations include going to graduate school and continuing to grow their skills.
Bianca Nuno, California State University Channel Islands
Bianca Nuño is an undergraduate student at California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI), pursuing a degree in Psychology. With a deep interest in mental health and human behavior, Bianca is focused on understanding the cognitive, emotional, and social factors that influence well-being. Currently, she is exploring ways to support mental health through evidence-based practices and compassionate care. Miss Nuño plans to continue her education in medical school, with the goal of becoming a psychiatrist. Her future aspirations include advancing the field of psychiatry through research, clinical work, and advocating for accessible mental health care.
