Since Winter 2008, CSUDH anthropology students have published the Electronic Student Journal of Anthropology (ESJOA), providing a peer-reviewed publication opportunity for undergraduates across the discipline. Even as editorial teams change each academic year, the journal's historical commitment to excellence is maintained. ESJOA offers practical experience with all aspects of research and publishing: CSUDH undergraduates write the research papers, essays, and theoretical summaries and make all major editorial decisions, including abstract selection, article review, and issue design, including photographs taken while conducting their own field research. The ESJOA is an award-winning exhibition of student-led research and creativity that honors the journal's original vision as a welcoming place for undergraduate scholarship that documents the broad intellectual interests and scholarly achievements of anthropology students at CSUDH and beyond.

ESJOA is a two-time recipient of the CSUDH Presidential Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement: 2010/11, the inaugural year of this award, and again in 2012/13.
