Not So Neighborly
Analyzing Anti-Migrant Feelings in Queens Village
Abstract
This paper studies the perception Queens Village residents have of the facilities created for undocumented migrants. After large anti-migrant protests filled the streets of Queens Village in 2022, this paper aims to understand why this immigrant enclave would express such hositility towards hosting these refugees. Through sixty in-depth interviewees with Queens Village residents, this paper dissects themes present in interviewees' remarks and explores nuances in our understanding of urban policy and distributive justice.
